Executive Inuit Arctic Training
Each year ITK organizes information sessions for senior federal government policy and decision makers in one of the 4 Inuit regions . These sessions are designed to provide a comprehensive "on the ground" introduction to the Inuit of Canada by visiting communities, touring regional and community infrastructure, and most importantly, meeting the people who live there.
Last year the sessions took place in the Nunatsiavut region. This week (April 11-16) ITK senior staff are in Nunavik (Northern Quebec) conducting sessions with federal policy and decision makers in Kuujuaq, Kangiqsualujjuaq, and Inukjuak.
Our hope in organizing these sessions is that participants will come away from them with not only an extraordinary experience in the Canadian Arctic, but with a greater understanding of the unique environment, situations, and challenges that face Canadian Inuit within their regions and their communities - and that they will put that newfound understanding to work for Inuit when they return to their various positions within the federal government.
