Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Announces Annual General Meeting and Presidential Election

Monday April 20, 2009 - Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s national Inuit organization – Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) – announces the date for its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Presidential Election. The 2009 AGM will be held on June 10, 2009 in Nain, Nunatsiavut (Labrador). An election for the position of ITK President will be held immediately following the AGM.

The term for ITK President is three years. Any individual Inuk may run for the position. The deadline for nominations for potential candidates is Thursday May 14, 2009 at 7:00 pm (eastern). Application forms and detailed election rules are available on the ITK website at www.itk.ca.
