Organizational Structure
Board of Directors
ITK has seven board members.
The presidents of the four regional Inuit organizations are all voting members. The regional organizations are Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), Makivik Corporation, Nunatsiavut Government and the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation.
There are three non-voting members on the ITK board of Directors. They are the presidents of the National Inuit Youth Council (NIYC), Inuit Circumpolar Conference (ICC Canada) and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami* (ITK).
All board members except the president of ITK are elected by the constituents of their respective organizations. The President of ITK is elected by the Board of Directors.
*Generally the president of ITK does not vote at board meetings, however, in the event of a tie vote between board members the ITK president can cast a vote to break the tie.
Internal Organization
Internally ITK is divided into three departments and an Executive Secretariat.
The three departments at ITK are Health & Environment, Socio-economic Development and Finance/Human Resources/Administration. Staff in each department report to a director. Department directors report to the Executive Director.
The Executive Secretariat is responsible for strategic planning, communications and technology services. Staff in the Executive Secretariat report to the Executive Director.
The Executive Director reports to the President.
