On July 29th, 1986, delegates from Canada, Greenland, and Alaska, gathered in the Alaskan coastal village of Kotzebue for the 4th General Assembly of the Inuit Circumpolar Conference.

The assembly was focused primarily on the development of an Arctic Policy on environmental, political, economic, and social and cultural issues important to circumpolar Inuit.
