First ICC Meeting Held In Canada

54 delegates, 18 each from Alaska, Canada, and Greenland, gathered in Iqaluit for the third General Assembly of the Inuit Circumpolar Conference (now Inuit Circumpolar Council), July 25 - 31, 1983. It was the first time the Assembly had been held in Canada.

The conference was given extensive coverage by the Inuit Broadcasting Corporation and the CBC, the American television networks ABC, NBC, and CBS, and print media from as far away as Los Angles and New York City.
