ITC awarded HRDC project funding

After 2 years of planning, developing, and negotiating with Human Resources Development Canada ITC is awarded a national project under the Aboriginal Strategic Initiatives (ASI) Program to help reduce Inuit dependency on social programs.

The approved initiative presents a strategy to address the employment barriers that affect two key segments of Inuit society – hunters and youth.

The planned activities are centred on transferring of harvest technology from elders to youth and the establishment of a natural resources directory, with an ecotourism component project focusing on training youth so they can better access employment opportunities in that industry.
