Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples Special Hearings into the Relocation of Inuit to the High Arctic

Inuit who were relocated from their homes to the High Arctic in the 1950s begin testifying at special hearings of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples in Ottawa held April 5 – 8, 1993.

This is the first time that the issue of relocation is examined in a comprehensive manner. Inuit witnesses from Grise Fiord, Resolute Bay, Pond Inlet, and Inukjuak, travelled to Ottawa to testify at the hearings held at the Chateau Laurier.
