Inuit Tapirisat of Canada media release, September 19, 1975

A whole new concept of adult training for native people of the far north is the objective of an agreement signed today by Inuit Tapirisat (Eskimo Brotherhood) of Canada and the Toronto-based Frontier College.

Under the agreement, Frontier College will develop a management training program for Inuit, designed to equip then with the skills necessary to administer the resources which will come under their control once a land claims agreement has been reached with the Federal Government.

The initial contract covering phase one of the agreement will cost an estimated $48,000 which Inuit Tapirisat is financing through a bank loan. Phase one will consist mainly of an intensive survey to determine what special training requirements are, what educational resources are available, and how to bring them together to produce a special “education package” for Inuit.
