Who We Are
We represent 65,000 Inuit in Canada, most of whom live in communities spread across Inuit Nunangat, our homeland in Canada.
What We Do
We produce advice, knowledge, strategies, action plans, policy tools and learning resources to protect and advance the rights and interests of Inuit in Canada.
About Inuit
An Indigenous people, we have occupied Inuit Nunangat — roughly 40% of Canada’s land area and 72% of its coastline — since time immemorial.

Our communities face significant social and economic challenges around issues such as education, health, poverty and housing.

“We understand that we are increasingly in the centre of a geopolitical fight that is not necessarily around our culture or our society, but is in our homeland, in our back yards,” Obed said.
“No other nation states can come to us and tell us what we should have done, or what we have to do to maintain sovereignty over our homeland. We do that ourselves, and we’ve articulated that again and again over the past 200 years,” said ITK President Natan Obed
