Natan Obed, president of the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, said the tragedy of Inuit children taken into care in a culture that values its children so highly “is a departure from who we want to be versus who we are.”
Inuit may be a unique society, “but we are talking about Canadian children. We are talking about a system that is supposed to support all Canadians equitably. We don’t have that today,” Obed said.
