Home » The National Committee on Inuit Education
The National Committee on Inuit Education was created through the Inuit Education Accord. The National Committee’s mandate is to implement the spirit and intent of the 2011 First Canadians, Canadians First National Strategy on Inuit Education (“National Strategy”) to eliminate the gap in educational outcomes between Inuit and other Canadians.
ITK President Natan Obed is focused on educating Canadians about Inuit priorities and concerns by creating resources that foster understanding and support for the work our people are carrying out at various levels of government. ITK’s publications frame complex issues such as mental health, educational attainment, and food security for a policy audience. This process of translating knowledge for a wider audience is crucial for influencing the way resources such as mental health services and supports are designed and allocated.
