Summary of the Initiative

The KFAP ( Kugluktuk Food Aid Project) is to decrease and acknowledge food hunger, food costs how these affect the whole community.  Kugluktuk currently does not have a food bank, soup kitchen or emergency food distribution to help those in need.

Challenges

The main challenges are a lack of other food initiatives and overall food insecurity in the community.

Sucesses

we hope to be able to contribute to the creation of a food bank,soup kitchen and “Good Food Box”.

  • The Northern Store in Kugluktuk will be leaving a Food Drop Box and are to donate food to help in anyway possible with soup kitchens and a food bank should that be started, The KHTO ( Kugluktuk Hunters and Trappers Organization) will be donating country food to the Food bank once that is up and running. The Kugluktuk wellness Coordinator and MFT Coordinator for the Hamlet of Kugluktuk also help oversee the Kugluktuk Food Aid Project.
Primary Goals

  • The Kugluktuk Food Aid Project is to decrease and acknowledge food insecurity and overall hunger and addressing the impacts on the community of Kugluktuk as a whole.
