Summary of the Initiative

This program is intended to supplement other existing food programs in each school in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region. It provides wages dollars to hire a breakfast coordinator for every morning during the school year.

Challenges

High staff turnover. The District Education Authority, the school principal and the school breakfast coordinator must all work together for the program to be successful. However, the person in these positions changes frequently which impacts the program.

Sucesses

Breakfast in the schools in the ISR are both more reliable and improved in quality (is a more balanced meal).
